Biocompatible Resin

What is Bio-Based High-Precision Resin?

Bio-Based High-Precision Resin is a UV-curable 3D printing resin developed by eSUN, synthesized from bio-based monomers such as PLA (polylactic acid). By introducing bio-based synthetic oligomers to replace traditional petrochemical-based monomers, it significantly reduces irritating odors and skin sensitization while delivering excellent dimensional stability and high-precision printing capabilities, designed specifically for LCD/DLP desktop resin printers.

Unlike traditional petrochemical-based UV-curable resins, Bio-Based High-Precision Resin uses PLA derivatives extracted from natural crops (such as corn) as core oligomers from the source. While maintaining UV-curing forming precision, it eliminates safety concerns at the material level, enabling resin printing to truly enter education, home and office desktop scenarios.

Bio-Based Synthetic Oligomers

Core oligomers synthesized from bio-based monomers such as PLA, replacing traditional petrochemical-based monomers to achieve low-carbon sustainability and non-toxic safety from the source.

Ultra-Low Odor & Low Sensitization

Virtually eliminates the pungent odor and high sensitization of traditional acrylates, significantly improving the operating environment and user experience.

Excellent Dimensional Stability

Extremely low volumetric shrinkage (<2%) during UV-curing crosslinking reactions, with minimal warpage after forming and rigorous tolerance control.

LCD/DLP Desktop Compatibility

Designed specifically for LCD/DLP desktop resin printers, easy to operate and suitable for education, home and office scenarios.

Why Bio-Based High-Precision Resin for 3D Printing?

01Ultra-Low Odor & Low Sensitization

Uses PLA derivatives refined from pure plants as core oligomers, virtually eliminating the pungent odor and high sensitization of traditional acrylates, significantly improving the operating environment.

02Eco-Compliance Advantage

Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent global environmental regulations (such as EU REACH and RoHS), the bio-based label carries inherent compliance advantages, lowering market entry barriers.

03Ultra-Low Volumetric Shrinkage

Bio-based materials exhibit extremely low volumetric shrinkage during UV-curing crosslinking reactions, generally controlled within 2%, ensuring forming precision.

04Excellent Dimensional Stability

Minimal warpage after printing, with controllable and stable dimensions meeting rigorous tolerance requirements.

05High-Precision Printing

Perfectly suited for dental orthodontic model printing, precision figurine mastering and other industry applications demanding strict tolerances.

06Desktop LCD/DLP Friendly

Designed specifically for LCD/DLP desktop resin printers, easy to operate and suitable for education, home and office desktop scenarios.

eSUN and Bio-Based High-Precision Resin: A Pioneering Story

The story dates back to when desktop LCD/DLP resin printers were just beginning to gain popularity. During a large-scale market research effort, eSUN visited many figurine studios and dental clinics, discovering a critical commercial bottleneck: if the odor and skin sensitization of UV-curable resins could not be resolved, this technology would forever remain in the "workshop" and never truly reach education, home and office desktops.

Identifying the Industry Pain Point In an enclosed personal studio, the owner was handling printed parts wearing an industrial-grade gas mask, with the room filled with the pungent odor of traditional epoxy resins and acrylates. This immediately made eSUN realize that the odor and sensitization of UV-curable resins were the core bottleneck limiting their adoption in broader scenarios.
PLA DNA Drives Innovation eSUN's foundational DNA is its globally leading polylactic acid (PLA) biomaterial synthesis technology. In the FDM field, eSUN disrupted traditional ABS filament with PLA. At an internal product co-creation meeting, a bold idea was proposed: since PLA succeeded in FDM, why not introduce PLA into the UV-curable resin system?
Birth of eResin-PLA The R&D team began experimenting with bio-based synthetic oligomers to replace traditional petrochemical-based monomers. After countless formulation iterations, they finally launched eResin-PLA, derived from natural crops such as corn. It not only significantly reduced irritating odors but also resolved material safety concerns at the source — using biotechnology to break through the scenario barriers of UV-curable printing.

Pros and Cons of Bio-Based High-Precision Resin

Pros

Ultra-Low Odor & Eco-Compliance

Uses bio-based PLA derivatives to eliminate pungent odor and high sensitization, with inherent REACH and RoHS compliance advantages.

Excellent Dimensional Stability

Extremely low volumetric shrinkage (<2%), minimal warpage, controllable dimensional accuracy.

High-Precision Printing

Perfectly suited for dental and precision figurine applications with strict tolerance requirements, strong detail reproduction.

Compliance Advantage

Bio-based label carries inherent REACH and RoHS compliance advantages, lowering global market entry barriers.

Cons

Feature Description Impact
Mechanical performance ceiling Pure bio-based resin has limited impact toughness and elongation at break, performing relatively "brittle" Not suitable for high-impact, high-toughness load-bearing scenarios
Low heat deflection temperature Cannot compete with professional high-temperature resins Not suitable for high-temperature environment applications
Not suitable for load-bearing structural parts Mechanical performance limitations determine it is not suitable for direct load bearing Only suitable for model and mold-type applications
Note The core value of Bio-Based High-Precision Resin lies in eco-compliance and high-precision forming, not mechanical strength. It is an ideal choice for applications such as dental models and precision figurine mastering that demand extremely high dimensional accuracy and surface quality but are not subject to mechanical loads.
