High-Strength Resin

What is High-Strength Resin?

High-Strength Resin (also known as ABS-Like Resin) is a photopolymer that mimics the mechanical properties of ABS engineering plastic. Through modified acrylate formulations, it achieves high impact resistance, high elongation at break and high flexural strength while retaining the high-precision forming advantage of vat photopolymerization — overcoming the brittleness and impact vulnerability of standard resin.

Compared with standard resin, high-strength resin offers superior toughness and impact resistance. Printed parts can be drilled, tapped and sanded, withstanding functional loads. The core technology lies in toughening system design — by incorporating toughening components into the acrylate matrix, toughness and elongation at break are significantly improved while maintaining rigidity, enabling photocured parts to meet the mechanical requirements of functional prototyping and hand model testing.

Post-curing still required UV post-curing is required after printing to reach final strength Adds post-processing steps and time cost
Limited high-temperature resistance Heat deflection temperature exceeds standard resin but still falls short of specialty high-temperature resins Not suitable for continuous high-temperature applications
Note The core value of high-strength resin lies in mechanical performance approaching ABS engineering plastic, enabling photocured parts to withstand functional testing. It is ideal for scenarios requiring load bearing, drilling or tapping — such as functional prototypes, enclosures, snap-fit parts and mechanical part verification. For high-precision appearance parts only, standard resin offers better cost-effectiveness.

For high-precision appearance parts only, standard resin is more cost-effective; for high-temperature resistance, choose high-temperature resin.

High-Strength Resin Printing Tips

Warning Mix the resin thoroughly before printing to ensure even dispersion of toughening components, otherwise forming strength and mechanical performance will be affected. High-strength resin is sensitive to light — avoid prolonged light exposure and store unused resin away from light. Always wear nitrile gloves and safety goggles during operation, and maintain ventilation in the printing environment. For A200, supports should be 3-5mm or larger to ensure stability and prevent detachment during forming.
Parameter / Action Recommended Notes
Layer Height 0.025 - 0.100 mm 0.050mm recommended for functional parts, balancing precision and strength
Normal Exposure Time 8 - 20 seconds Toughening formulations typically require longer exposure, fine-tune based on equipment
Bottom Exposure Time 25 - 45 seconds Ensures first layers firmly adhere to the build platform
Support Size 3 - 5 mm or larger A200 supports recommended 3-5mm+ to ensure stability
Pre-Print Operation Mix resin thoroughly Ensure even dispersion of toughening components to avoid affecting forming strength
Washing Method High-concentration alcohol cleaning A200: clean with high-concentration alcohol then air-dry
Post-Curing UV light for 1 - 2 minutes (A200) A200: UV post-cure for 1-2min, extend appropriately for large parts
Light Protection Storage Avoid prolonged light exposure Store unused resin away from light to prevent premature curing and degradation

Settings should be adjusted according to your printer model, resin batch and model geometry. This guide does not replace the official parameter sheet for a specific grade.
